Description

Traversées is a film by Tunisian director Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud, for which I composed the music. The film tells the story of two travellers, one Arab and one Polish, trapped in repeated crossings between England and Belgium after being refused entry by both countries.

The work forms part of my activity in film and television music during the 1980s, extending my practice as a composer from theatre and live stage music into music for moving image.

The film was presented at the 1983 Venice International Film Festival, marking the international debut of Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud’s first feature film.
